But when there is a will there is a way, as a Destiny 2 clan comprised of all deaf players has completed the Spire of Stars raid lair. It took the clan, which goes by the name BAM Optical Raiders, several weeks of practice to plan out and then complete the task, but they finally beat Spire.
Although the Destiny 2 clan didn’t use microphones they dad have a source of communication. Thanks to a site called Jarvis9940, the team was able to communicate using visuals cues, so they could know which players fit into which roles. For those that might not be familiar, there are specific callouts that need to be made during the Spire of Stars raid lair so that team members know who has a buff called Superior Retainer and where the orbs need to be thrown.
Even with perfect communication, Spire of Stars can be a challenge for raid teams but the fact that a team of all deaf players shows just how determined Destiny 2 fans can be. Raids are challenging but they are also extremely satisfying when a group can complete them. It’s a shame that Bungie could not deliver rewards that match the challenge of the raids in Destiny 2 Year 1, but hopefully, they can change that in Year 2 with the Forsaken expansion.
Hats off to BAM Optical Raiders for their incredible Destiny 2 feat and we’re sure this isn’t the last that players will see feats from them. Destiny 2: Forsaken’s raid looks to be bigger than anything seen in the series thus far, with tons of boss fights, and no doubt clans of all types of players will attempt it.
Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
