As part of Game Informer’s ongoing coverage of Destiny 2: Forsaken, the publication reveals that Flashpoints will work a little differently for players when the expansion releases. However, there is some vague language surrounding that claim, so players may need to wait until September to find out what that means exactly.
The article itself focuses on the new activities and the greater incentives to complete existing activities that will entice players while waiting to complete their Flashpoint Milestone. Things like new Outlaw Lost Sectors, which are harder versions of Destiny 2’s “dungeons” that feature unique bosses.
At a glance, the post seems to suggest that players will be able to complete patrols and lost sectors to work towards their Flashpoint Milestone, but that isn’t necessarily true. Here’s exactly what Game Informer says about the changes to Flashpoints:
Some may remember that Flashpoints originally counted patrols towards completion, but then Destiny 2 decided to turn the focus towards Public Events and High Value Targets. The wording here may be confusing but it sounds as though Lost Sectors and Patrols will add to that percentage with the Forsaken.
If that is the case, it seems likely that Destiny 2 will lower the percentage gained from Public Events in order to ensure players don’t blow through their Flashpoints in a short amount of time.
Hopefully, Bungie offers some clarity on the issue ahead of Forsaken’s release. At this point, though, anything that helps freshen up the Flashpoint Milestone would surely be welcome.
