The event brings a lot of new content for players to enjoy, while also reiterating past events. Over the years The Dawning has evolved, and this year is quite the spectacle for players new and old to Destiny 2. This year, players can take part in two new quests, unlock new weapons, strategize with snowballs, and look slick doing it all in the new Eververse set. To give players even more incentive, there are a few emblems to earn and plenty of holiday shaders to customize their new loot.

Eva’s Holiday Oven 2.1

Eva Levante has returned once more and brought her holiday oven back. Guardians are able to gather ingredients from their foes and craft delectable baked treats with a little Essence of Dawning for their favorite NPCs. This year, there are a number of new recipes to learn and characters to please. Like past years, guardians would be wise to craft each recipe as quickly as possible to masterwork the oven. This cuts the amount of Essence of Dawning required for each baked good from 15 to 10.

Eververse

In typical fashion, Tess brings a lot to the table in terms of content with many new armors, sparrows, ghost shells, and more in the Eververse store. In fact, this is where the majority of seasonal items can be acquired. The Eververse store is a mix of old and new, so even if players missed out in years past or are simply new to Destiny 2, they can acquire whatever their heart desires. One thing to remember is that most items will cycle out on a weekly rotation and be available for both Silver and Bright Dust. So, patient players may be able to spend some of their in-game currency before shelling out real-world currency.

New Quests

As the guardians and civilians alike in the Last City have forged new friendships with Empress Caiatl’s cabal army and the House of Light’s Eliksni, this has created the opportunity to deepen those bonds during The Dawning. After completing the first quest, players will be tasked by Eva Levante to seek out Zavala and Saint 14 for further instructions. Each will want to do something for one of the factions. Zavala wants to impress his space rhino potential girlfriend Caiatl, and Saint 14 seeks to improve his reputation among the Eliksni.

The quests and steps in each are much longer than one would expect, but the story that is woven is heartwarming. Each picks up in a logical place, with Zavala continuing his best efforts to prevent a war with a longtime enemy, and instead make an ally of them. With his partner held hostage or potentially dead, the Exo Titan Saint-14 seeks to turn his grief into something positive and help the refugee Eliksni that have made their way to the Last City.

The Dawning continues to get better every year. The event for this year brings back the snowballs from the first event and infuses them with the new Stasis element. The Zephyr sword joins Avalanche, Cold Denial, and Glacioclasm as the new holiday weapon. New quests breathe new life into the already wonderful world that is the Destiny 2 universe.

However, the best addition might be something that wasn’t meant for The Dawning at all. The 30th Anniversary event with its own embarrassment of riches and a new matchmade activity has been the perfect combo for players seeking to grind out ingredients for their cookies. With so much to get, it’s good that players have until the new year to earn it all.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
