The folks on the Destiny 2 raid secrets subReddit continue to churn out theories as to how to unlock the Ascendant Lens mystery. The majority of players seem to believe that the answer lies in the Dreaming City as not only is it directly mentioned in the item’s description, but it is also at that location where players can become ascendant using the Tincture of Queensfoil. So far, there’s been no progress to solving this question.

One user named NullRef_Arcana provides a pretty compelling argument that perhaps the item can’t be used until Beyond Light arrives. The biggest piece of this puzzle is the fact that by the time Festival of the Lost was scheduled to arrive, the Beyond Light expansion was already supposed to have launched. Considering its delay to November 10, plans were shifted, though Festival of the Lost couldn’t change since it’s specifically set to be active in October due to its obvious ties to Halloween.
The next lightbulb moment came for them when Bungie first revealed the Warlock Statis subclass and the customization options called Aspects and Fragments. According to Bungie, these are physical items that players will be able to discover and collect in the game, offering passive perks and bonuses. Combining all these things together, the user then theorizes that the Ascendant Lens is actually meant to be an Aspect or Fragment, an item players were supposed to get after Beyond Light launched so they could apply it to their Stasis subclass. As of right now, the item doesn’t have a purpose and could be the reason why the fanbase has yet to figure it out.
For those who have yet to get the final chest unlock trophy for the Festival of the Lost, the Destiny 2 community has seemingly developed a few methods for faming the necessary cipher keys. One user sung the praises of Trials and actively forfeiting matches to earn a quick cipher key. While some may not enjoy tanking their Crucible stats, others have indicated that running 750 Nightfalls only takes between 5-6 minutes and earns two cipher keys a time. Others felt that running Reckoning at Tier 1 is actually the best spot to farm key. Either way, it seems that fans have a few options on how best to tackle the cipher key farm.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
