To get these weapons, players will simply need to play Psi-Ops Battlegrounds activities or purchase them from the H.E.L.M.’s War Table with materials. With the meta still up in the air, these weapons are just as good as any. Here’s which of season 16’s weapons players should get first in Destiny 2, and what perks might be interesting for them.
6 Explosive Personality
Type: Grenade Launcher, Special Ammo Notable Perks: Frenzy, Feeding Frenzy
Light grenade launchers are seeing somewhat limited use in hardcore PVE, and almost no use in PVP. That’s mainly why the Explosive Personality grenade launcher is at the bottom of this list, even if it can roll with some decent perks.
Being a Power grenade launcher with Solar specialty, it’s unlikely this will see use in endgame PVE content as it doesn’t roll with perks like Blinding Grenades that would give it real utility. As such, it remains more of a cool addition to the game rather than something players will return to regularly.
5 Recurrent Impact
Type: Machine Gun, Heavy Ammo Notable Perks: Headstone, Perpetual Motion, Subsistence
Though this machine gun feels better than most other Legendaries players have seen in the game so far, it doesn’t really have a good place or use other than bounty completion. This is because machine guns in general are a niche choice for most players.

That being said, the Recurrent Impact is a Stasis machine gun, and with the combination of Headstone, it can make for some fun and interesting Stasis builds for players who can’t get onboard with Season 16’s Void 3.0 frenzy.
4 Piece Of Mind
Type: Pulse Rifle, Primary Kinetic Notable Perks: Heating Up, Vorpal Weapon, Adrenaline Junkie
Pulse rifles are seeing some love this season, as they’re the only other option to glaives when dealing with Unstoppable Champions. Moreover, the Piece of Mind does feel nice, though doesn’t compete much with the new Suros Stasis pulse rifle, Syncopation.
That said, if players end up with a Vorpal or Adrenaline Junkie perk roll, it can be a nice weapon to fall back to in mid-tier PVE content, and why not in more difficult content as well. Its lackluster damage and lack of Stasis, however, make it weak compared to other pulse rifles recently added in the game, and even older but golden choices like the Messenger.
3 Sweet Sorrow
Type: Auto Rifle, Primary Energy Notable Perks: Killing Wind, Perpetual Motion, Vorpal Weapon, Demolitionist
Auto rifles have been more than ‘meh’ in the last year or so in Destiny 2, but Sweet Sorrow completely breaks that trend with how magnificent it feels. This Energy weapon goes into the player’s secondary slot and deals Arc damage.
The general feel of this auto rifle is much better than some other staples like Scathelocke and Horror Story, though it does find a solid competitor in the Krait, which was also released with The Witch Queen expansion and new season. Roll this with Killing Wind, and players are off to a good start, as it could easily work as a go-to PVE auto rifle.
2 Under Your Skin
Type: Combat Bow, Primary Energy Notable Perks: Archer’s Tempo, Explosive Head
Combat bows aren’t going anywhere this season, with bows being one of the Anti-Barrier Champion mods in the artifact. And while the Tel Faradiddle is an excellent option as well, the Under Your Skin combat bow feels incredible with the right perks.

What gives it a nice boost this season is the fact that it’s a Void element bow as well, so it will benefit from all that Void damage boost and suppression. It might be early to state this, but it could very well be that this bow ends up seeing a lot of endgame content thanks to its Void element alone, and the incredibly Archer’s Tempo perk it can roll with.
1 Thoughtless
Type: Sniper Rifle, Special Ammo Notable Perks: Steady Hands, Headstone, Quickdraw, Snapshot Sights
Now for something that could potentially survive the test of PVP as well: the Thoughtless sniper rifle. This rifle feels incredible to use, with a design that makes it heavier but more fun to use compared to lighter sniper rifles.
It’s a Stasis sniper rifle as well, so paired with a Stasis build and that pesky Headstone perk that can summon a Stasis crystal at the target’s location, Thoughtless can be a real menace in the right hands. It might not be the best sniper, period, though, so players shouldn’t vault their Cloudstrikes, Eye of Sols and 1000 Yard Stares just yet, but it does pack a punch even in PVP.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S.
